Vaginal Laxity & Atrophy
(looseness & dryness)

What is Vaginal Laxity?

Usually caused by giving birth naturally, or as a result of menopause, vaginal laxity is an over-stretching and weakening of the vaginal walls. It is a fairly common condition – although rarely discussed – and unfortunately can cause women to experience a feeling of looseness’ in the vagina.

Pregnancy and childbirth can drastically change a woman's body, even if a woman has had a caesarean section; the pressure of the pregnancy can also drastically affect the pelvic floor muscles and vaginal tissues.

As a woman’s body ages and changes, the loss of collagen fibres makes vaginal skin and other tissues thinner. During menopause, oestrogen production diminishes. As this hormone is related to the growth, maintenance, and repair of the vaginal tissues, a lowering in the hormone can lead to more lax vaginal tissue and structure.

Other unpleasant issues such as stress incontinence or vaginal dryness (atrophy) which can make sex difficult or even impossible for some, with lack of lubrication, very little sensation during intercourse, or even pain.

This in turn can have a huge impact on relationships and a woman’s confidence in her own anatomy and sense of self.

Ultra Femme 360™ can offer a positive improvement in vaginal laxity and a solution to these under-reported but highly distressing symptoms.

What is Vaginal Atrophy?

The hormone estrogen keeps your vagina healthy by acting as a natural lubricant. It also stimulates the cells in the lining of your vagina to encourage the presence of ‘good’ bacteria that protects against infection.

As estrogen levels in your body decline during the perimenopause and menopause, the vagina, vulva, and urinary tract can suffer from a lack of estrogen. The tissue lining your vagina thins (known as vaginal atrophy or atrophic vaginitis) and becomes drier. Your bladder and the tube running from it (urethra) also thin and become weaker which can cause you to need the toilet more often and feel very desperate to go, without much notice. As estrogen helps cells to fight off harmful bacteria, a lack of this hormone makes you prone to urinary tract infections, such as cystitis.

A lack of estrogen to your vagina and vulva can cause a range of problems; symptoms that, although very common, are often not mentioned due to embarrassment. Symptoms can present in the earlier years of your perimenopause or may not occur at all until years after your menopause. Seven out of ten women experience some of these symptoms after their menopause has ended, even if they already take HRT.

It is not just a problem for women who are sexually active – in more severe cases, the discomfort can be present all the time and affect normal every day activities, such as what clothing you choose or how long you can sit down for.

By treating vaginal laxity with Ultra Femme 360™, improving blood flow to the vaginal walls and tissues, collagen stimulation and improvement to skin quality and function, improvements can be seen in vaginal atrophy, making a huge impact on women in their sexual and personal lives.

How can Ultra Femme 360™ help Vaginal Laxity & Atrophy?

Ultra Femme 360™ is the only radiofrequency device on the market that treats internal vaginal tissue a full 360° during each treatment session. Through radiofrequency waves, Ultra Femme 360™ stimulates the body’s natural healing processes, regenerating new tissue in the internal and external areas of the vagina and genitourinary system.

The toning and tightening effect on vaginal tissue has a tightening effect on the vaginal canal and vulva, strengthening and restoring structure. This can be felt by patients very soon after treatment and can improve sexual experience for both partners.

With an improvement to vaginal tissue and skin, patients experience an much increased sensitivity to the vulva and vaginal area, due to a stimulation and blood flow and production in collagen. These effects can lead to an improvement in function and an impact on the symptoms of vaginal atrophy. The impact of these improvements can lead to an enjoyed sexual experience and confidence and a sense of 'getting yourself back' for many women.
